The Lovers

The Lovers tarot card description

Two people stand in a garden beneath a radiant winged figure in the sky. Behind one grows a tree of fruit; behind the other a tree of flames; between them, in the distance, rises a mountain.

The winged figure is a blessing from above; the two trees are desire and wisdom; the mountain is the shared goal a couple climbs towards. The two stand as equals, open to each other.

The Lovers upright

The Lovers is the card of relationship: attraction, harmony and the deep bond between two people.

It is also a card of choice. It asks for a decision in which your heart and your values agree, and reminds you that real union rests on honesty.

• Finances

A decision about money that should reflect your values; a partnership or shared finances.

• Career

A partnership, a valued collaboration, or a choice between two paths.

• Health and wellbeing

Balance between body and mind; relationships that support your wellbeing.

The Lovers reversed

Reversed, there may be imbalance in a relationship, or a choice made against your own values.

It can also mean a decision you keep avoiding. Ask what you truly want.

• Love and relationships

Disharmony, mismatched values, or a choice between two people or paths.

• Finances

Spending that goes against your values, or tension over shared money.

• Career

Conflict with a partner or colleague, or a wrong turn in a decision.

• Health and wellbeing

Inner conflict affecting your wellbeing; find what is out of balance.

Health readings describe wellbeing within the tradition. They are not medical advice; for any health concern, see a doctor.

The Lovers: one-card pull, yes or no

Drawn as a single card for a yes-or-no question, The Lovers is usually read like this:

The Lovers for timing

Linked with Gemini, whose Western season runs from about 21 May to 20 June. In timing it points to the moment a decision is made.

These correspondences come from the Western tarot tradition, which uses the tropical zodiac. They are not part of Vedic astrology, whose signs are counted differently.
