Major Arcana · Card XX
Judgement
An awakening: hearing the call to a new stage of life.
- Yes or no: Yes
- Western astrology: the element of Fire
Judgement tarot card description
A winged figure in the clouds sounds a long golden trumpet, and below, people rise joyfully from open stone chests with their arms raised. Mountains and sea stretch behind them.
The trumpet is the call to wake up; the rising figures answer it, leaving the past behind; the open chests are old limits left empty. It is a card of rebirth rather than of punishment.
Judgement upright
Judgement is the card of awakening and renewal. It marks a moment of reckoning: seeing your life clearly and honestly.
It asks you to forgive the past and answer the call to a new stage.
Love and relationships
A relationship renewed, a second chance, or an honest reckoning about it.
Finances
Reviewing your finances and making important decisions.
Career
A calling, a big decision, a second chance or a new direction.
Health and wellbeing
A renewed commitment to your wellbeing.

Judgement reversed
Reversed, self-doubt or harsh self-criticism may be keeping you from answering the call.
It can also mean a decision delayed; be kind to yourself and listen again.
Love and relationships
Blaming yourself or each other; forgiveness helps.
Finances
Avoiding an important decision.
Career
Ignoring a calling out of fear.
Health and wellbeing
Being too hard on yourself; gentleness helps.
Health readings describe wellbeing within the tradition. They are not medical advice; for any health concern, see a doctor.
Judgement: one-card pull, yes or no
Drawn as a single card for a yes-or-no question, Judgement is usually read like this:
Upright
Yes
answer the call.
Reversed
Not yet
first let go of self-doubt.
Judgement for timing
Linked with the element of Fire. In timing it marks a decisive moment: when the call comes, it is time.
These correspondences come from the Western tarot tradition, which uses the tropical zodiac. They are not part of Vedic astrology, whose signs are counted differently.
